The AD Concert band is a Community Wind Band with over sixty members, from teenagers to octogenarians, who range from enthusiastic amateurs to graduate standard players. Our aim is to provide an opportunity for musicians for all ages and abilities to make music together and to bring the enjoyment of wind band music to a wide range of audiences. The Band is based in Solihull, West Midlands, where it rehearses once a week. We perform a wide variety of concerts throughout the year, including formal evening concerts, village fetes and park bandstands, as well as joining forces with other bands and choirs for specific events.
We have a large and varied repertoire which includes classical transcriptions, music from West End shows, film themes, dance band and original works. Our Musical Director, Dr Trevor Farren, began his musical career playing trumpet and cornet, before taking up the euphonium. He is well known in the Midlands, both as a performer and conductor.
As a charity we are self-supporting and the money raised from the concerts we perform goes towards buying new music, instruments and other equipment. We also work with local charities in joint fund raising concerts. We are always in need of further support and new players and would welcome approaches from anyone interested in working with us. |
